Volt is a pan-European, progressive political movement aiming at revolutionising the way politics is done across Europe. Created just over a year ago, we are now active in twenty-five European countries and plan on becoming a full-fledged European political party to promote European integration with a social twist.

I say « we » because, following the publication of Seeing the Bigger Picture, I decided to join Volt. I am now supporting the EU Reform team and it has so far proved a very exciting challenge! This is therefore the second time that my writings end up on their blog and I am very thankful for this collaboration.

A couple of days before the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s death on April 14th, this piece − entitled We’re not ready − pays indirect tribute to his optimism, wisdom and moral fortitude. He was a man of profound humanity and one ready to take on the greatest challenges for what he believed was right.

Today, as Europe and the world are once again assailed by intolerance, nationalism and worsening inequality, let us remember this great man and learn from his example.
